George has spent a lifetime around the game of golf gaining a wealth of experience in all areas of the profession and is extremely passionate about the game he loves, “I’m fortunate because I’m in the business of dealing with people.” After becoming a Member of the PGA in 1999 George developed his teaching skills by spending time with some of the most influential instructors in the world gaining a comprehensive understanding in teaching people golf through effective communication, making the game more enjoyable for all who play – after all golf is what the ball does. George also helps to “coach the coaches” with continuing certification programmes and has featured as a key note speaker at numerous coaching seminars. His enthusiasm for seeing all golfers reach their potential delivers a lesson experience like no other for all who play the game, ensuring you head to the course with a clear and simple menu that allows you to play your own game.
The natural progression for George was in succeeding his father Steve as the Club’s Head Professional in 2012 establishing Porter’s Golf Ltd. As a 'Foremost' buying group member, George is able to stock the professional shop with a wide range of products and is confident he can cater for all your golfing needs by offering an impressive range of the very latest products from leading brands in the golf industry. George makes it a priority that all members and visitors to the Club receive a first class level of service from the moment your North Hants experience begins.
Steve began his career in golf at the world famous Sunningdale Golf Club as assistant to legendary club professional and Ryder Cup player Arthur Lees. After enjoying many happy years at "The Dale" and becoming a PGA member and prolific winner on the region's tournament scene, Steve took up a post at Warren Point GC in Northern Ireland, representing them as their touring professional.
He played all over the UK and ventured to Kenya to play the African Tour before settling into the role of Club Professional at Hartley Wintney GC for six years prior to becoming Professional at North Hants in 1983. Still a keen student of the game, Steve enjoys the challenge of improving his own game and tapping into his vast knowledge as a tournament professional to help others benefit from his experience. Steve has adapted his style through the years to meet the changes he has seen in the golf industry with a career spanning over 45 years.
