Steve Porter

"I began my career in golf some 40 years ago at Sunningdale Golf Club when Club Professional and Ryder Cup player Arthur Lees appointed me as his assistant professional to work alongside Sam Torrance in the pro shop. In 1973 I qualified as a member of the PGA and decided to play tournament golf, travelling through Africa, before settling into the role of Club Professional. After a number of successful years playing the tour, I returned home to teach golf at Lavender Park in Ascot and then moved on to Hartley Wintney Golf Club as their Professional.

In 1983 North Hants Golf Club appointed me as Professional where I have now spent many happy years. Throughout my tournament career I played and was involved with, some of the best players in the world. My in depth knowledge of the game enables me to help all levels of golfers from beginners to established players. I believe that to communicate effectively, one must keep it simple and delivering a "less is more" approach to my teaching sees me achieve fast results with pupils and thus raising their enjoyment of the game."

George Porter

"I am a Class AA Professional and Plane Truth Certified Instructor with over 15 years of teaching experience. It is my belief that every golfer will improve when they receive and understand the correct information. My passion and desire to learn has exposed me to some of the most recognised and influential instructors in the game and I have been lucky enough to spend time with the best of them. I feel I can help golfers effectively and deliver fast improvement to their game. Whether a beginner, established golfer, amateur or professional, my aim is for every student to enjoy the learning process and to understand the key factors relating to striking a golf ball, thus enabling them to self teach therafter.

I can work on every aspect of the swing to improve power, accuracy and consistency. The short game comprises pitching, chipping, sand shots and putting which I strongly emphasise to help all golfers lower their scores. To develop a complete player, all the mental aspects and course management skills are assessed to help me better understand a player's thinking, helping me to guide players through their own unique development programme. Each student will discover how to practice effectively, how to play the golf course and how to analyse their own game and target the areas needing the most improvement. V1 video analysis is available to help golfers understand the differences betweeen the "feel and the real" aspects of a swing and to clarify the information."

Craig Matthew
